The Figure Eight Layout Track

Another track configuration in the early years was a figure eight layout.  This map is a postulation of what the crossover track configuration may have been.  A crossover switch was placed north of the Archway entrance to the park valley.  Trains leaving the north depot would have traveled west, south and then southeast through the crossover, south over the east trestle and then west into the south depot.  Departing from the south depot trains would have headed west and then north over the west trestle, then northeast over the crossover to Britain Ave. and then west into the north depot.  The north loop traffic would have run counter clockwise as it did in later years but traffic on the southern loop would have run clockwise, opposite the direction that trains traveled on the southern side of the trestles in later years.
