Due to the significant impact the Israelite House of David has had on the history, culture, and economy of Southwestern Michigan and vice versa, and in the interest of framing the colony’s place in that history, the Archives & Collections maintains a Berrien County History Collection. The collection primarily focuses on the Twin Cities (Benton Harbor and St. Joseph), but also includes archival materials and artifacts relating to the whole of Berrien County.

The processing of collections to preserve the history of the area is an integral part of our mission. As the Archives & Collections staff is organizing the Berrien County History Collection, access to it will be limited.
As of the Summer of 2026, we have our interns working to organize the BCHC object collection, while volunteers and the Collections Manager aim to have the first round of archival material organized soon.
